The Sad Kitten's first Christmas, Part Two.

Hello, kittens!!

Today we continue with our tour of the Sad Kitten's Christmas room, as there's still a lot to discover! It's Christmas Day, and as you can see on the below pictures, the Sad Kitten got his presents from Santa, and is jumping with joy, that is to say, 'Sad Kitten style'...!

Last time we ended the tour with Little J's woolen socks, so I suggest we leave those where they are for now; we let The Sad Kitten play with his presents, and move on to take a look at the rest of the room!

In the middle of the room there is a table with lots of Sad Kitten stuff, like the big jar filled with candy shown here.

He even has his own custom made cereals bowl, courtesy of Rebecca Micallef. This kitten is definitely spoiled to the bone, I can tell you!

On the table you will find a box of cute Nijntje tissues (Eng: Miffy; a very famous Dutch rabbit), and the Sad Kitten's goldfish. Same as with the bird, the Sad Kitten is not allowed to touch the goldfish, but just look at him. That's not always easy for him, but he manages...

There is also a red container with colored pencils, which the Sad Kitten uses for his drawings.

And Christmas would not be Christmas without a book of Christmas Carols, although, to be honest, the Sad Kitten is not really the best of singers.. This books was also designed by Rebecca, and just like all her books, it's fully readable. She sent it to me as a kit which I put together myself. If you are interested in these miniatures, I suggest you visit her 'My Miniature World' shop, where she has a collection of more than one hundred different books, along with many other beautiful miniature items!

Below picture: another bag of candy! This kitten will need a serious workout after the holiday season, that much is certain!

A football that The Sad Kitten played with.... once.

A toy train set he got as a present from Little J, who loves toy trains.

In another corner of the room there is an armchair with three of his friends, two teddies and a rabbit. The teddies are fully articulated despite being so very small!

And finally we have come to the last corner of the living room, where the Christmas tree has been erected! Doesn't it look wonderful and cozy with the decorations, the lights, and all the gifts around it!?

On the wall next to the tree you can see two framed pictures of the Sad Kitten and Little J.

The Sad Kitten loves to climb on Little J's head because it feels like a warm pouffe, only harder. Not sure Little J agrees with that description, though.

The other framed picture shows The Sad Kitten in his most common position: stretched out on the sofa, sighing..

And this concludes our tour! I hope you've enjoyed it!! Wishing you and all other kittens in the world a wonderful Christmas day, and, in just a few days, a very Happy New Year!!!

Thanks for visiting, kittens! See you again soon!

The Sad Kitten's first Christmas, Part One.

Hello, kittens!

This is quite a special year for The Sad Kitten, as he's going to celebrate his very first Christmas! To mark the occasion, his living room has been turned into a magical place full of Christmas decorations, lights, and of course a beautiful Christmas tree; all aimed at giving Santa a very warm welcome!

The Sad Kitten has been counting the days to this, and now that Christmas Eve has finally arrived, his little heart is beating twice as fast with joy and excitement!
Let me show you the Sad Kitten's Christmas room in more detail. There is plenty to see here; in fact so much that I will do that with two postings instead of one! The second one will be published tomorrow, so feel free to come back then to check it out!

Above is a close-up picture of the fire place. The fire has been extinguished to allow Santa to enter through it safely. Some embers can be seen still glowing, but Santa being Santa, he won't have any trouble with that!

On top of the fire place there are a few items that the Sad Kitten likes. There is a white giraffe with blue dots, a jack-in-the-box, and an elegant clock.

On the right corner of the fire place there is a very special item, a hand painted circus wagon! The wagon is made of sterling silver, and the artist who decorated it is no other than my fellow miniaturist and friend Rebecca Micallef, who also provided some other beautiful items to the Christmas room which will be discussed later. And guess what: there is actually a lion inside the wagon!! Look, here it is, isn't it wonderful?!

In the left corner of the room there's a library containing books and other items. There is also a red 'Christmas' armchair. On the wall you can see a sweet portrait of the Sad Kitten and Little A

At some point, Little A adopted the Sad Kitten, and the two have been inseparable ever since. The picture shows her totally melting for the kitten, but who wouldn't be melting in her place!

On the armchair there is a bag of licorice candy, some star-shaped 'Christmas cushions', and the Sad Kitten's favourite duckie.

The Library contains, apart from books, all sorts of other objects, like porcelain figurines and a scale model of an old, Dutch ship.

Among the books to be found in the library are copies of "The 3 Little Kittens" (who lost their mittens) and "About Bunnies". These books were also created by Rebecca Micallef, and are fully readable.

Next to the library you can see Little A's slippers, as well as those of The Sad Kitten. They are extremely small, and were hand made by a lady with golden hands. Aren't they the cutest thing ever?!

In a corner of the room there is side table with two drawers supporting a bird cage. The table was painted in a blue color similar to that used for the library and the fire place. I created it by mixing several colors to obtain the right hue. The Sad Kitten loves the bird, but he knows that he's not supposed to scare him or touch him, just look at him or talk to him!

The bird cage was bought 'ready made', but I put some extra detail to it by adding bird sand and two little containers for bird seed and water. I must say that these small details greatly improved the overall look of the cage, making it much more realistic.

On the wall next to the cage is a picture of the Sad Kitten. Little A made it using her smart phone, and had it printed and framed for display. It shows the Sad Kitten asking Little A what she's eating.

The sheep with the big bell belongs to Little J, who's Little A's best friend. He will be discussed in the second part of this Christmas blog, to be published tomorrow. The sheep was a present from his uncle who lives in Romania and is a shepherd. According to his uncle, the sheep has 'special powers', but, until now, the only 'special thing' the sheep has shown is a voracious appetite for grass and hay. Nevertheless, Little J loves his sheep, and regularly draws portraits of it, as shown in the below picture. He also has a pair of socks made of sheep wool, which keep his feet warm in bed during winter.

OK, kittens, this concludes the first part of our tour of the Sad Kitten's Christmas room. I hope you've enjoyed it! Please come back tomorrow to see the second and final part! Have a great Christmas Eve!

Thanks for being here, kittens! See you soon!
